We opened our doors in September 2011 and have been growing ever since. FSM took over this wonderful space in early 2011 and during our first year updates were made to the building and grounds. We were small to start with, but once families met us and saw what we had to offer and word spread, spaces were quickly snapped up! We are now excited to say that we frequently have waitlists and we are going strong. In 2020 we faced some challenges with the uncertainty of COVID19 so we had to hit the pause button, but we are optimistic that we can open our doors once again for camps and more, in summer 2021!
In fall 2021 we planning to scale back to one class a day, to be able to offer school as safely as possible whilst continuing to deliver the quality program we are renown for!
We are proud to build and foster community within our school! We have a thriving community of students, parents, staff and alumni.
We offer parent education through the year on a variety of topics, welcome volunteering (especially of you have a special talent to share) and encourage family involvement during special events and field trips!
"It takes a village to raise a child"
Our peaceful campus is conveniently located between Poulsbo and Silverdale on Clear Creek Road NW, Poulsbo. We are also close to the nearby Navy base at Bangor readily accessible to our Navy families too!
Ali is a certified teacher from the UK, where she was born and raised. She has a passion for working with children and has more than 25 years teaching experience, ranging from preschool to high school. She has taught in different parts of our world, including England, Scotland, the Middle East and the USA, providing a wealth of experience from which to draw upon. It was during Ali’s second spell of living in Kitsap County, when she discovered Montessori education and was hooked! She took her American Montessori Society (A.M.S.) training at the Montessori Education Institute of the Pacific Northwest (M.E.I.P.N.) to become an AMS Early Childhood Montessori certified teacher and went on to complete a M.Ed in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Montessori. Ali is also delighted to be working as an AMS Instructor at M.E.I.P.N., sharing experience and knowledge to a new cohort of Montessori teachers in training. Ali is a mother of two wonderful young ladies and the wonderful Max, who is such an important member of staff! When Ali isn’t busy teaching or running the school, she is often out hiking, swimming, cycling or ‘treading the boards’ in some of the wonderful theaters of Kitsap County. The year 2020, would have been First Stage Montessori's 10th year of operation but sadly we hit the pause button. Ali is delighted and honored to be opening FSM's doors once again to welcome all the families who will now be part of this wonderful community.
Angel began working with children in high school and continued to do so following a family move from Minnesota, WI to Bainbridge Island, WA.
After raising a family here in Kitsap County, Angel pursued her career working with people and spent her time assisting seniors on Bainbridge.
When she is not working, Angel loves the being outdoors and is an avid gardener. Angel enjoys walking and hiking in the great Pacific Northwest especially with her furry pal Piper. Her other hobbies include floral design and cooking.
She is delighted to be a part of the FSM team and says working with all our wonderful students is a joy.
A native of Missouri, and now a permanent resident of Washington State, Max is an important part of the classroom and has been loved by many children over the last few years. Max has an uncanny ability to allow children to feel welcome and relaxed, even helping children that may harbor fears about our four legged friends. Max is frequently read to, petted and loved. He is an important presence, providing the opportunity to learn about canine body language and how to care for a pet, especially as some families may not have a real furry friend at home.
